Bragging Rights

Did I mention I had a bride here who was a professional singer? I was the one hosting her party, but she was the live entertainment!

Mr. Tyler Welch and his new wife Carley were a blast! We had m&ms on the reception tables, fresh roses on the cake, and Lots of live music.

One of my favorite things about working at Northampton House is meeting so many talented young men and women. I feel so inspired – and use that inspiration to do things like put “become a professional singer” on my new year’s resolution list.

Thanks Tyler and Carley

Let's Talk Wedding Cakes

There are a few things no bride can be without.
Every girl wants her moment out on the dance floor swaying to a perfect song, they want a dress that makes them feel magnificent and beautiful, and they want their one moment while the crowd waits breathlessly to see if they stuff cake in each other's faces.

Personally I like the couples who smash frosting into the other's face.

The other thing I love about wedding cakes is what they say about a person. It is my opinion that cakes tell about personality. White ribbons, lace, fondant face cards, live roses, blue polka-dots. You can learn a lot about a person, from their cake.

So then, here are some of my favorite cakes from 2015.

The Two Faced Cake

The Personality Cakes - all cakes are personality cakes, but I think these ones say an exceptional amount about the bride and groom.

Cakes with live flowers - there are a lot of these because I Love them. Whoever thought of putting frosting and flowers together was a genius.

Color Themed Cakes:

 Lacy cakes:

Last and probably best: Naked Cakes. This is my personal favorite

The Twiggs

We celebrated Zenna and Nathan Twigg's marriage on January 23rd. They had a wonderful luncheon in our Somerset room with honey-glazed chicken, scalloped potatoes, sauteed green beans, Caesar salad, and strawberry cheesecake to finish the meal off! Yum. They also had some beautiful live red roses for decoration.

The Twiggs were a fun family to work with. Some of my favorite pictures from the event are of the newlyweds covered in laughing nephews and nieces. I even got to play photographer for the family so that they could get some of their family shots. Thanks for spending part of your day with me at Northampton House!

Mr & Mrs Hendry

McKenzie and Trevan Hendry had their wedding reception at Northampton House last Saturday. These two are so popular their receiving line was fifty guests long! They were busy talking and laughing the whole night and I could barely get them pulled away to cut their cake and celebrate with their first dance.

This was a really fun event. I loved their centerpieces, loved the food (bragging moment – Northampton House live action crepe bar!), and loved what a kind and happy couple they are.

I also loved their cake, before and after it was finished.

Heier & Burton

January 14th will always be a special day for Kelsey & Andrew because it is the day they got married! Congratulations to these two, Kelsey was glowing the entire night while they were here for their reception. I think one of my favorite things about planning weddings is watching the couples. I love how happy they are, nearly bursting with energy and excitement. They got some great pictures on our staircase.

The reception was blue and white and their cake had polka-dots on it, which was beautiful. Congratulations - and I wish you a very lot of happiness!

Winter Wonderland Reception

This is a family who knows how to put on a party! We had a reception for the Wirigs in our Courtyard room. The theme was Winter Wonderland - everything was spectacular from the music, to the decorations, to their personalized ice sculpture.

The room was filled with live flowers and strings of lighting. Even our grand staircase was decked out in a winter wreath!

Winter Wedding

Congratulations to Alyssa and Cameron - now Mr and Mrs Palmer. Their reception in the Courtyard room was beautiful and Alyssa made for a gorgeous winter bride! The decor was blue and silver with snowflakes and ornaments to celebrate the season. Their food was warm and toasty. They had a darling hot chocolate bar with donuts and cookies.

Even though it was a cold night the atmosphere was warm and bright. The couple brought in a great DJ and the night was full of music and dancing.
